A Different Take on Smokey Eyes: Sofia Vergara

Photobucket

Most people think of smokey eyes as being dark, usually black, dark brown, or navy blue. Sofia Vergara recently rocked smokey eyes in a shimmery copper tone that was very flattering to her skin and didn’t leave her looking overly made up.
For those of you afraid of darker colors, this could be perfect! Wearing a shimmery lighter shadow can provide a sultry effect without overwhelming your eyes or pushing you too far out of your comfort zone. Here are a few shades you can use for lighter smokey eyes:

-Mulch from MAC
-Smog from Urban Decay
-Toasted from Urban Decay

What do you think of Sofia’s look?

Repeat Makeup Offender: Paz de la Huerta

PhotobucketPhotobucket

It seems that Paz de la Huerta needs to hire a new makeup artist ASAP. The uniquely pretty actress can’t seem to get her makeup quite right for big red carpet events. In both photos, Paz is carrying shiny skin, no eye makeup, and completely unflattering shades of lipstick. She doesn’t necessarily need a lot of makeup, just a better application and color palette.
With a quick swipe of mascara, a tint of warmer color on her lips, and some blotting papers, this girl would work the red carpet like a super model!

What do you think? What would you change on Paz?

Tangerine Tango- 2012 Color of the Year

Photobucket

Pantone, the color authority, picks a new color to represent each year. 2012′s color is Tangerine Tango, a deep orange red.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

It’s a beautifully bright color that can be worn in small doses or bright pops of color. Sweep on an orange blush for a light hint of color, or go bold with a deeply pigmented lipstick and matching nail polish. The brightness of orange will perk up any skin tone.
